ANNUAL RAFFLE As expected the meeting was very well attended, and quite short as everyone was anxious for the drawing, The winner is Jay Davis, who is a member, but was not at the meeting. Congratulations!
DEFENSIVE PISTOL Dave Poole will continue to run this course of fire on the second Sunday of the month throughout the year. Please arrive at 9:30 to help set up the stages. You’ll need eye and hearing protection, a holster and an extra clip. Dress warm!
YOUTH PROGRAM-Jr. Rifle Steve Horigan reported that they may begin their activities the third week of January meeting on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Parents must stay with the child. They hope to have between 6 and 8 participants, but only have two signed up as of yet. The equipment to support this program has arrived. Steve is still looking for volunteers to assist with this activity.
TURKEY SHOOT Bobby George was not at the meeting and there was no report on the results of this event.
BUCKMASTER Dick Laakso reported that Frank Bridges had registered a 240 pound buck in the out of state division, while Dave Crowley was leading the in state competition with a 158 pound 8 pointer. While several of the participants have harvested does, none have been submitted for consideration.
BARNSTABLE COUNTY SPORTSMAN’S LEAGUE In Bobby George’s absence Dennis Fonseca gave the report One of the issues discussed was the State’s ban on lead sinkers less than 1 oz. that goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2012. He indicated that the ban, as written, needs to be clarified. Pres. Craig stated that the League would hold its March meeting at the Club.
RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP Chuck Ellis announced the winners, although he did not have the scores with him. Kevin Redmond won the scoped division, while Chuck took the iron sights championship.
JUNIOR MEMBERSHIPS Scott Ames was, unfortunately, out of town so there was no substantive report on this activity. It was reported that 17 members expressed interest in helping to formulate a proposal for the membership to review.
SANDWICH P.D. TOP GUN Dave Guillemette and Chief Wack gave Pres. Craig a plaque thanking the Club for use of the facility. RSO’s for the event were given pictures of the participants, like the one on the plaque, a lapel pin and will be given a t-shirt with the Sandwich PD IDPA logo, when they arrive. A competition between the Sandwich PD IDPA team and a team from the Club, was suggested.
HUNTER SAFETY- Steve Susko announced that a program would be offered at the Club in mid- April. He hopes to offer another session in June. His hope is to have programs in January and June on a regular basis. He got approval from the membership to purchase copy of instructional software that illustrates a number of hunting and shooting concepts- such as the sequence of events that occur when a cartridge is fired.
2012 LICENSES Pres. Craig announced they were available at the District Offices in Bournedale Monday –Friday. They can also be purchased on line, but there is an additional charge of $1.55.
